Blue-Eyes

The plan was to build a deck that features my favorite monster of all time, Blue-Eyes White Dragon.  This build allows for a lot of deck thinning through cards like Trade In, Cards of Consonance, Dragon Shrine, and Foolish Burial.  Blue-Eyes is my boss monster and his best buddies are Tidal, Dragon Ruler of Waterfalls and Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos.

Synchro is very easy with this deck since it features lots of level 1 tuners.  The tuners are good for combining with Blue-Eyes to make Azure-Eyes or the Dragon Rulers to make standard level 8 synchro monsters like Scrap Dragon, Stardust Dragon, and Crimson Blader.  Being able to quickly thin my deck and load my graveyard with dragons allows me to have a strong field presence pretty early and make big pushes when the time is right.

So far this deck has been working out really well.  This is by far the best deck that I’ve built mostly on my own so I’m pretty proud  of it.  It does have some bad hands but they’re very rare.  There is almost always a play available and I’ve only found myself struggling when I end up with all 3 Blue-Eyes in my hand and no way to get them out.

Several people at my locals asked me why I chose to run Gorz in this deck and I just said it was because nobody would expect it.  For the most part I was right.  On rare occasions when my opponent was able to clear my field and attack directly, they never hesitated.  Plus, Gorz is a level 7 monster who will play very nicely with my Dragon Rulers once I get a copy of Big Eye and Dracossack.  He also allows me to go into level 8 synchro monsters very easily.  Gorz is also very good at stopping OTKs.

Here’s the list:

Keep in mind some of these cards (especially in the extra deck) could be replaced with much better choices.  I build my decks with cards I currently have.  No reason to create a deck list using cards I can only play with online.  That said, I’m very pleased with this deck.  The biggest thing I’m missing is a Big Eye and Dracossack and I hope to have those very soon.
